"Operation Iraqi
Freedom" |
|
On October 28, 2009
with generous donations from patriotic citizens we sent our
1st Comfort Package to troops deployed in Iraq in support of
"Operation Iraqi Freedom". The packages
weighed approximately 100 pounds and consisted of
blankets (hand made by volunteers), breakfast bars, power
bars, hot chocolate, baby wipes (keeping our soldiers clean)
and other items. We will continue to help support both
fronts "Operation Iraqi Freedom" and "Operation Enduring
Freedom" (Afghanistan) with comfort and care packages as
frequently as our financial resources allow. |

On Saturday
November 14, 2009 with the help of Girl Scout Troop 2951 and
Girl Scout Cadette Troop 2454 fleece material was
purchased and 9 hand-made blankets were made for the troops
deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation
Enduring Freedom. The Girl Scouts and Cadettes
also donated the much sought after "Girl Scout Cookies". The blankets,
Girl Scout cookies and comfort and
care items were sent to deployed troops with the 4th Brigade
2nd Infantry Division in Iraq on December 1st and December
4th, 2009. The comfort and care items weighed
approximately 200 pounds and consisted of
hand-made blankets, personal hygiene items, snacks, and other items that the
troops cannot get overseas. |
|
On June 15 and
16, 2010 we shipped approximately 645# of "We Care Packages"© to
(11 Squads) the entire
Company "A" consisting of 152 U S Army soldiers, serving
with the 4th Battalion, 9th Infantry unit at a Forward
Operating Base in Iraq. The "We Care Packages"©
consisted of baby wipes (they only have running water a
couple of days a week), peanuts, trail mixes, peanut butter
cups, crackers, canned sardines, tuna packs, girl scout
cookies (donated by a girl scout troop), and many other
items that bring comfort to those serving our nation.
None of this could possibly be accomplished were it not for
the generous contributors who do indeed SUPPORT OUR TROOPS.

A Email from Iraq
Dear Friends of AmVets and
Girl Scouts Troop #2951,
Thank you so much for the hand-made blanket sent to me at
Able Company, 4-9 IN. Special thanks go to Julie, Lauren
Gable, Lindsey Gable, and another girl from Troop #2951 whom
I can't quite read the handwriting. My blanket was the black
and red one with the horses. It is much appreciated. I am
the executive officer or XO here and needed such a blanket
very badly. You support is much appreciated. Thank you
again!
1LT David Fahs, Able Company XO |
