DISCLOSURE

Non-profit organizations are just like most businesses.  There are expenses involved with operating a business.  Some of the expenses associated with operating a non-profit organization are rents, utility companies, printed matter, registration fees, accounting fees, audit fees, postage, the cost of raising funds, employee compensation, payroll taxes, legal fees and miscellaneous expenses.

The goal of the initial contact with individuals using telephone solicitation, direct mail or direct contact is designed to market American Veterans Foundation's brand, website and its' free assistance service to veterans.  Approximately 65% of the contacts made receive a promotional message and they are not contributors.  Further, the initial call requests help in defining and locating veterans who may need assistance.  Consequently, costs treated as fundraising expenses have the express purpose of increasing public awareness of how to get help and how to be of help.  Unfortunately, non-profit organizations utilizing the services of professional fundraising companies must report, in most jurisdictions, the gross amount of contributions and the actual amount of funds paid to the professional fundraising company, both as a dollar amount and a percentage of the gross contributions.  Most of these reports or reporting agencies do not take into consideration the costs associated with raising funds.  This misleads the public to believe that much less of their contribution goes to the mission or program expenses than actually does.  If, in fact, we contracted one company to raise funds and another company to promote and market our message, we would have doubled expenses and payments to two separate entities.  To be cost effective, we negotiate reasonable costs for dual task contract work.  Therefore, it appears as though our funds to program services have been reduced when in fact our program services have expanded and will continue to do so.

PROFESSIONAL FUNDRAISERS

American Veterans Foundation is seeking qualified Professional Fundraisers who, if necessary, are licensed and bonded in the geographical areas they work.  The type of fundraising is flexible, allowing for your field of expertise, knowledge, experience and resources.  Residential, Commercial and Publication contracts are available in most geographical areas.

We are also looking for Professionals with innovative ideas regarding ways of raising funds to support the work of American Veterans Foundation.

Come aboard and enjoy the benefits of a campaign with a national organization with local flavor who will register and support your efforts.
